How To Save the Hookah Industry

There is a lot of gossip and rumors floating around out there about this topic so we are here to give some facts and help educate our community.

Starting August 8, 2016, the FDA will control and regulate hookahs, hookah charcoal, accessories, and hookah tobacco, freezing the marketplace and not allowing any additional hookah products to come to market that were not already in commerce! This will forbid the innovation and enhancements that have been so prevalent to the hookah industry over the past decade.

Hookah products that were not already on the market as of February 15, 2007 will have to undergo pre-market analysis, which could cost over $1 million dollars per item. As a result, 95% or more of the hookah marketplace will be eliminated and the prices of hookah products that can survive this regulation will become substantially more expensive to purchase!

This will put most of the hookah industry out of business.

What can you do?

There is something you can do though! The good news is that there is a proposal in Congress that will change the predicate date to August 8, 2016, sparing the hookah industry from such costs and allowing for the hookah marketplace to survive with all the great products you have come to enjoy since February 2007!

We need your help though in order to get this passed through congress! Please contact your local Congress person and respectfully let them know to support Congressman Cole’s amendment to HR 5054.
